Creating a Daily Skin Care Routine

Creating a Daily Skin Care Routine  While anti-aging treatments can certainly help to erase fine lines, reduce dull skin and create a more vibrant appearance, it's important to keep a daily skin care routine that enhances and supports your efforts. At the Harley Institute Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, we help men and women repair their damaged, dull and aging skin using a variety of non-surgical, minimally invasive therapies. Microdermabrasion, chemical peels and Ultherapy can work wonders for aging skin, but it's your daily habits that will ultimately determine how long the results will last. Many people go through great lengths, adopting advanced and complex morning and evening regimens that can take hours, such as the 12-step skin care plan that has become popular in recent years. However, quality skin care doesn't have to become a burden, all it takes is a few simple steps to keep your glowing skin healthy and beautiful.

Cleanse

The first step is to thoroughly clean and wash your face, twice a day. Once in the morning and again in the evening before bed. From oil cleansers to foaming face washes, there are a wide range of choices available. Make sure you choose one for your unique skin type, and avoid products that contain ingredients that might undermine your quest for healthy skin long term.

Exfoliate

A gentle exfoliation a few times per week can help to remove any dead skin cells and stubborn makeup residue that can clog pores and create an environment that breeds acne causing bacteria. Using a harsh exfoliating product twice a day could do more harm than good however, so if you're going to add this step into your daily routine, be sure to use one that is gentle and nourishing.

Tone and Treat

Toners, serums and special treatments are next. This step doesn't need to be included in your everyday skin care schedule, however anytime you're struggling with specific issues such as under eye circles, hyperpigmentation, adult acne or wrinkles, then temporary daily use of the product can help alleviate problems.

Moisturize

The last step is to moisturize the skin. Some moisturizers are light, and others heavy, so choose carefully depending on whether you have oily, dry or combination skin. In the morning, use a moisture that includes a high SPF so you stay protected from damaging UV rays.

Schedule Routine Anti-Aging Treatments

It's also a good idea to work one on one with an anti-aging skin care specialist like Dr. Harley. Great skin requires diligent maintenance, and as we age, it can become increasingly difficult to minimize fine lines, blemishes, skin discolorations and dull complexions. Modern science has brought many innovations to the cosmetic industry, and now there are many new ways to get amazing, youthful skin without the need for surgery. A skin care expert can help you develop a customized plan that's tailored to your unique skin type, lifestyle and needs.
