The vein therapy treatments at Harley Institute are designed to relieve discomfort and improve the appearance of visible veins. Spider and varicose veins can develop from genetics, lifestyle, or long hours spent standing, and they can affect comfort and confidence. Options may include minimally invasive procedures that target the affected veins and allow healthy circulation to return. Our goal is to create smoother, clearer skin while improving overall vein health. Keep reading to see how our vein therapy treatments can help you.

Get effective vein therapy in Atlanta, GA. Our specialists provide advanced, minimally invasive vein treatments to relieve pain, improve circulation, and restore confidence in your legs.

What Causes Visible Veins?

Visible veins usually develop when the valves inside your veins weaken or stop working properly. These valves help move blood upward toward the heart. When they fail, blood pools in the vein and causes it to enlarge or twist. The buildup leads to the raised, bluish appearance we recognize as varicose veins. Spider veins, on the other hand, are smaller and sit closer to the skin’s surface and form thin red or purple lines that branch outward. Several factors increase the risk. Genetics plays a big role. If your parents or grandparents had visible veins, you may develop them too. Age also matters since the natural wear on the vein walls and valves increases over time. Jobs that require long periods of standing, like teaching, nursing, or retail work, add to the strain. Hormonal shifts during pregnancy or menopause can contribute as well, especially in women. Lifestyle factors like excess weight or lack of movement can slow circulation and place more pressure on the veins.

Types of Vein Conditions We Treat

Varicose veins are among the most common vein conditions and may appear swollen, twisted, or raised above the skin. They can cause aching, heaviness, and swelling, especially at the end of the day. You might also feel irritation or cramping around the area. Spider veins are finer and more visible, and usually appear on the legs or face. They rarely cause pain, but they can still be a cosmetic concern. Early care can limit their growth and promote healthy, balanced circulation. Chronic venous insufficiency happens when the deeper veins in the legs struggle to send blood back to the heart. Common signs include swelling, tired or heavy legs, and changes in the skin’s tone or texture. Taking care of these symptoms through precise varicose vein therapy helps restore better blood flow and prevents complications.

Treatment Options and Techniques Used

Modern vein therapy provides solutions that are precise and minimally invasive. Most procedures can be done in the office with little to no downtime. During your consultation, our team explains which option will deliver the best results for your condition and comfort level. Sclerotherapy is a popular technique for spider vein treatment in Atlanta. A fine needle injects a special solution into the vein that causes it to close and fade. The body easily redirects blood to nearby healthy veins once the treated vein is closed. The process is quick and effective, with no need for anesthesia. Laser vein therapy uses focused light energy to close damaged veins safely and restore smoother skin. These approaches work well for larger or deeper veins and can relieve pain, swelling, and visible bulging. For larger or more visible veins, our specialists create a custom plan to target the affected areas and promote healthy circulation.

Comfort and Safety During the Procedure

Feeling at ease throughout your treatment matters. Our team uses precise application methods to ensure the treatment stays gentle and comfortable. Most patients describe only mild pressure or warmth during the procedure. Because these techniques are minimally invasive, you can usually return to daily activities right away. Our specialists monitor every stage of the process. From your first evaluation to the final checkup, we guide you through what to expect and how to care for your legs afterward. Every step of treatment is centered on patient comfort and care. We also schedule follow-up visits to confirm that healing is progressing as expected and to track how circulation improves. Safety is central to everything we do.

Maintaining Healthy Circulation After Treatment

After your procedure, maintaining circulation supports long-term results. Regular movement helps the veins push blood upward, especially in the legs. Walking, stretching, or light exercise improves muscle tone and reduces pressure on the veins. Wearing compression stockings as directed can support healing and reduce swelling. They help prevent new veins from developing by applying consistent pressure that keeps blood flowing toward the heart. Elevating your legs when resting also helps relieve pressure. Try not to stay in one position for too long. If your work keeps you on your feet for hours, shift your weight often or take brief walks to keep blood moving. Staying hydrated and keeping a healthy weight also eases pressure on your veins and supports good circulation.

When to Seek Professional Care

Visible veins may start as a cosmetic concern, but they can also signal underlying circulation issues. If you notice swelling, discomfort, or heaviness that doesn’t go away, it’s a good time to schedule an evaluation. The earlier vein therapy in Atlanta begins, the easier it is to manage symptoms and prevent progression. At Harley Institute, we treat each case individually. Whether you’re seeking spider vein treatment or care for larger visible veins, our specialists create a plan that fits your health needs and lifestyle. Early attention improves appearance and also reduces the risk of long-term complications like skin changes or leg ulcers.

Vein Therapy FAQ

Frequently Asked Question

Is hair reduction using laser permanent?

Treatment results may vary among patients. The Altus CoolGlide Laser is cleared by the FDA for Permanent Hair Reduction. The FDA defines permanent hair reduction as the long term, stable reduction in the number of hairs re-growing after a treatment regime.

Will it work on dark skin?

The Cutera CoolGlide Laser is FDA-approved for use in types I to VI skin, that is, from the whitest white to the darkest dark. Care is taken with the darker shades of skin, but excellent results can be obtained in black skin.

What does it feel like?

The laser treatment may feel like a mild sting for a fraction of a second. It has a built-in cooling tip that not only helps to protect the skin but also helps to minimize the discomfort.

How long do the treatments take?

An upper lip and chin can be done in 5 to 10 minutes. Underarms or bikini lines usually take 15 to 20 minutes. Legs and backs take longer. Very often, follow-up treatments are shorter (and less expensive) because there is much less hair to treat.

How many treatments are necessary?

This is very important to understand. Hair goes through 3 stages of development. Typically in the anagen stage, the hair will respond more effectively to treatment. At any given time, only one third of human hair is in the anagen stage. For this reason, it is necessary to treat an area at least 3 times with the treatments spaced approximately 6 weeks apart in order to see the best and longest lasting results. Darker hair will respond better, but both dark and light hair may need up to 5 treatments for maximum response and the best long-term results.

Results - What can I expect?

There is often no immediate change. Your skin may get slightly red or even develop a small crust that will peel. The laser may leave small red marks on your skin. The marks clear up in a few days. The hair that has been destroyed will not start to fall out for 2-3 weeks. Many times it will get darker and thicker just before it falls out. Don't worry if you do not see an obvious change immediately after your first treatment.
