Turmeric

Turmeric root is a handy beauty tool to keep on hand in your kitchen cabinet. The popular spice has curcumin, a powerful antioxidant that battles cancer causing free radicals in the body. That means a daily dose of turmeric can help reduce your chances of developing skin cancer while also improving a dull complexion. As an added benefit, turmeric is also scientifically proven to reduce inflammation in the body and stimulates collagen synthesis which is vital if you want to keep your skin looking it's best well into the future.  Put extra turmeric in your favorite curry recipe or add a few dashes into your scrambled eggs in the morning for a quick pick me up.

Avocado

Avocado's provide many different nutrients that can counteract the negative side effects of aging. Omega-6 fatty acids work to prevent lost moisture in the skin and provide important healthy lipids that are required for healthy skin cell production. They also contain vitamin E and C, both of which play a vital role in maintaining healthy skin that's protected from harmful UV rays. Whip up some guacamole for a healthy dip or spread on toast for a fast and tasty snack.

Quinoa

This ancient grain is packed with protein, which is essential to creating healthy skin tissue. Quinoa also contains Riboflavin, which works to help improve skin elasticity and connective tissue. Both of which are vital for keeping a smooth and youthful skin texture. This delicious dish can be used in place of pasta or rice for dinner or combined in a cold salad that's perfect for a nutritious lunch on the go.

Sweet Potatoes

Orange vegetables like carrots, butternut squash and sweet potatoes carry elevated levels of beta carotene. This nutrient is an essential building block that's used by the body to create retinol, also known as Vitamin A. The combination of Vitamin and C contained in sweet potatoes help to neutralize free radicals that cause damage to cell tissue. They also provide biotin, a mineral that improves hair and nail growth.

Egg Whites

People often say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Including one or two eggs will not only help you feel full longer, but it can also help to improve your skin health. Egg whites contain a high amount of protein and important amino acids like lysine and proline, that help support the production of collagen. Having enough collagen is important if you want to combat those pesky fine lines and wrinkles that come with the natural aging process.
