What Is Ultherapy?
23Sep 2019

What Is Ultherapy? Ultherapy is a time-tested, non-invasive procedure to lift and tighten skin. This FDA-cleared process uses ultrasound energy to transform the chest, neck, brow, and chin back to their tighter conditions. Ultrasound has been used in the medical field for over 50 years and Ultherapy relies on that same ultrasound therapy to reinvigorate the body's natural collagen supply. Ultherapy has been established as procedure with real results in clinical studies as well as in over a million treatments globally. Even the 65-year-old co-host of TODAY's fourth hour, Kathie Lee Gifford, has tried and experienced the results for herself. "The next day, I felt I looked better," Gifford said.

Why Ultherapy?

There are many skin-tightening methods on the market, but Ultherapy is non-invasive. That means no needles and no knives. Ultherapy rejuvenates the skin by stimulating collagen production. Collagen is the structural protein in various connective tissues in the body. Put simply, collagen is what keeps your skin tight and together. Over time, natural collagen production slows down and the skin's ability to bounce back into shape takes a hit. Ultherapy helps to get the collagen producers back up to speed.

Ultherapy has no downtime and provides natural results. While some patients report seeing positive results right after their treatment, the true results appear over time as the fresh collagen supply works to elevate the skin's elasticity. You can expect to see real results in as little as two to three months.

Before Your Treatment

Before anything, you will want to call your Ultherapy provider at the Harley Institute in Atlanta to schedule a consultation. You will discuss your situation and needs during this session. Your practitioner will assess your skin's condition to determine if Ultherapy is right for you. Luckily, there are no particular preparations or regimens necessary ahead of your treatment. Your practitioner may, however, recommend some over-the-counter or prescribed medication for your comfort.

During Your Treatment

Ultherapy treatments at the Harley Institute in Atlanta can last from anywhere between thirty minutes for a chest treatment and ninety minutes for a neck and face procedure. Your Ultherapy practitioner will first clean your skin and identify the target areas. Next, ultrasound gel will be applied to your skin and your practitioner will use ultrasound imaging to detect optimal placement of the ultrasound energy. The delivery of ultrasound energy will feel like tiny amounts of energy being sent into your skin - this initiates the collagen-building process.

After Your Treatment

All finished! With Ultherapy, there is no downtime. That means you are ready to return to your normal activities as soon as you walk out of the Harley Institute door. Some patients experience redness, slight swelling, tingling, or tenderness, but these are all temporary and mild. Redness should disappear in a few hours. As with any medical procedure, there is the possibility of rare effects. If you experience any other negative effects that persist, call your physician to consult.

If you are ready to turn back time and rejuvenate your skin, call your local professionals at the Harley Institute for a consultation.
